Bleeding Ink Author Spotlight – Krista Walsh

Welcome Friends of Dark Justice to the Author Spotlight

Krista Walsh It says something about a person when her own parents believe she’s a bit round the bend. Prone to talking to herself, and with only one foot in reality, Krista Walsh has long accepted that normalcy is overrated. A lover of all things gothic, and fantastical, she tags along on the adventures of sorceresses and vampires, bringing their stories to the mundane place that is the real world.

Bleeding Ink Tale: The Night Belongs to Me

Ink Babes: Welcome Krista to the Author Spotlight. Please tell our followers a little bit about yourself.

KW: Canadian, Cancerian, chocoholic. I think that pretty much sums up my personality. In writing? I’m obsessed with gothic themes. While I avoid horror (can’t handle it), I love to lose myself in the dark and twisted. Watching a Tim Burton movie is like taking a look inside my head.

Ink Babes: What sparked the idea for your Bleeding Ink tale?

KW: I’m not the only author in this anthology to say this, but “The Night Belongs to Me” is the result of a the November flash fiction contest at forum.devinwrites.com. We were told to write about a Dark Angel, so Lucy came into being. I’ve had her in my head for awhile, but this was a great opportunity to get her on paper.

Ink Babes: We Ink Babes love flash fiction challenges. especially when they require us to tap into our fears. What would that be for you?

KW: Tornados. I’ve never seen one, or lived anywhere that was overly threatened by them, but they’re a common element in my stress dreams.

Ink Babes: Krista, what do you do when you are not writing?

KW: Not…writing…? I’m a DVD junkie. Movies, TV series – I’m all over it (And we’re back to Burton). My collection comes nowhere close to my book collection, but it’s still impressive.

Ink Babes:  And when you are? Which is your favourite genre to write?

KW: Lately I’ve been focused more on fantasy in general, dark and contemporary specifically, but I’ll try my hand at anything that inspires me. The common element in everything I write is a lead female character that kicks a lot of ass. I tried to write a weak character once. I got one paragraph in before she took over and started biting.

Ink Babes:  LOL! Funny how that happens! What are you working on now?

KW: While I have a few projects in the works, my focus right now is on the anthology follow up to Devin O’Branagan’s Witch Hunt. I’m thrilled to be a part of it and really excited to see where it goes.

Ink Babes: Wicked! We’ll be sure to look out for it’s release!

Thank you Krista for joining us in the spotlight today. It was great having you drop by.
